At a Special Meeting of Council on Wednesday the 17th June, a new Director will be put forward to fill the vacancy on the Fencing Victoria Executive Cath Harmer. In accordance with our constitution, these will be the only matters addressed at the meeting.
The meeting will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, 17th June at The State Fencing Centre, 204-206 Arden Street, North Melbourne.
Cath has written the following to introduce herself to the FV Community -
Cath Harmer
I have been involved with the Melbourne Fencing Club over the past nine
years with my daughter and son taking on fencing as their sport. As a
parent I have been impressed by the Club's attitude in developing a healthy
activity, supportive culture across all age groups and levels of fencers
and building an encouraging environment for fencers of all abilities to
participate.
It is with this Club spirit in mind that I would like to volunteer as a
Director on the state body Fencing Victoria. As a member of the greater
fencing community I would like to contribute to the expansion of fencing as
a sporting activity accessible to all Victorians; and to ensure that this
opportunity is governed in an open and accessible manner and in accordance
with the constitution of the organisation. I have had past governance
experience with the Alphington Football (soccer) Club and with the
community organisation Safe Place for Women and would bring this experience
to the Fencing Victoria board Director role.
