The second part of the Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) 2012 Annual General Meeting and Electoral General Assembly was completed on Thursday 31st January with the election of its new and first female President, Lady Tu’ivakano, the wife of the Lord Tu’ivakano, the Honourable Prime Minister of Tonga.

OWF Secretary General first to visit Tonga for 2019 Pacific Games

The Secretary General of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF), Mr Paul Coffa visited Tonga from 21st to 23rd November. He is the first representative of any regional and international federation to visit Tonga after they successfully won in Wallis & Futuna last month, the rights to host the 2019 Pacific Games.

TONGA WIN 2019 PACIFIC GAME HOST

Tonga has been awarded the right to host the 2019 Pacific Games by the General Assembly in Wallis & Futuna a few minutes ago.

Tahiti and Tonga made their final presentations to the delegates of the General Assembly during the afternoon session today.

After the votes, the Assembly retired for a short break and came back for the announcement of the result.

Boxing punches his way towards the Olympics.

Olympic Day 2012 to be held in Ha’apai.

TASANOC has confirmed that the Olympic Day 2012 will be held in the outer island groups of Ha'apai. This event will be held in conjunction with the Ha'apai Zone Games, designed to develop sport for the island. The games will consist of both traditional sports such as coconut husking (hokaniu) and Olympic sports such as rugby 7's. Olympic Day will take place on June 23rd and the Ha'apai Game will be on June June 20th - 22nd.

200 Days, 29 Fridays before Summer Olympics

There lesss than 200 days, or, as the Secretary General explains '29 Fridays' from the end of this week before the Opening Ceremony of the XXX Olympic Games which will be held in London from 27th July to 12th August. As from last Monday, LOCOG was celebrating the 200 days to go before the starting of the Games.
