MOUNT Isa’s major sporting bodies will share in a $400,000 grant which is set to make the city’s playing fields the greenest in the region.
Mount Isa Rugby League, North West Queensland Soccer, Mount Isa Softball, Mount Isa Touch and AFL Mount Isa will share in a State Government grant to install or upgrade their irrigation systems at their respective sporting fields. more -->

NEARLY ten years ago, a much younger Dan Fraser moved to Mount Isa and spotted a poster in a shop window advertising pre-season training for the Buffaloes Australian Rules Football Club.
A couple of months later he was instilled as captain of the senior team and has since skippered for the past nine seasons. more -->

STEVE ROSS WINS PAUL WHITE MEDAL 2009 The performance by Ross was simply stunning considering he had played just one match in the previous six weeks prior to the grand final.
As one of the tallest players on the field, Ross played mostly across half forward and in the centre and was an important link-up player for Rovers.

He was the standout choice for the Paul White Medal for the best player on the ground. more -->

JUNIORS ON SUNDAYS ARE GETTING GOOD NUMBERS We are have record numbers at juniors on Sundays, we have U8 and U10 playing two separate games at the same time at Sunset Oval, both games have between 15-20 per game and then we had 32 Under 14 playing after that, it was great to see and a credit to Michael King and the other junior helpers. more -->

ROVERS kept its mental edge over arch-rivals Tigers with a thrilling 11-point victory in the Mount Isa AFL season opener yesterday.
In hot conditions at Sunset Oval, the Tigers started brilliantly with a goal in the opening minute through Brian Menz, and looked the better side through much of the first half. more -->

MASSIVE NUMBERS AT THE AFL JUNIORS SIGN ON DAY We had massive number of kids down at Mount Isa AFL juniors sign on day on Sunday 19th April.

The day consisted of a free barbeque for all kids and parents, a kick into the wheelie bin
competition in which heaps of kids were successful and "catch Maddo's highest kick"
