Hastings Boys Basketball  off to a Great Start

The HBHS Junior and Senior basketball teams travelled to Hamilton on Friday for a one-day basketball blitz.
The Junior team was too strong for the opposition beating both Hamilton Boys teams by convincing margins and going on to win the final against Kelston by 77 to 42.
Isaia Jones was the player of the tournament but all 10 players should be proud of their effort and sportsmanship.

The Senior A’s played almost everybody 20 minutes a game and looked very quick and played as a team beyond Head Coach Curtis Wooten's preseason expectations.
They beat Kelston 58-16 with Mataeus Marsh  Player of Match
The team then beat Hamilton Boys 73-58  with Harrison Solomon playing a starring role
Kaleb Edward's efforts at both ends of the court featured in the win against Rotorua BHS  72-39.
In the Championship final HBHS played New Plymouth Boys who are consistently very strong.  After getting behind with a slow start the team went on a 14 to 0 scoring streak at the end of the first quarter to take the lead . From then on they managed to control  the game and win 49-44. The Player of Match  was Harlan Solomon
