Board Vacancies
There are currently two Executive Committee (board) vacancies for our organisation. The positions are voluntary and there is no salary or payment of expenses.
Interested applicants are asked to read the following information about the role of the board and the criteria for candidate selection. Governance
The board is solely concerned with the governance of the organisation and not its day to day running or management.
This means the board is responsible for guiding the organisation, making sure it is run in accordance with the constitution and operates within the appropriate legislative requirements. Its focus is strategic and with an emphasis on the long-term.
Eligibility
Members are expected to bring with them professional skills and experience which help with governance. A clear underdstanding of governance functions and principles is essential. Specific occupational skills that add value to board business (for example Project Management, Human Resources and Planning) as well as strong networks across business are highly desirable. Typically experience in the financial and legal sectors, sports administration or business management is regarded as appropriate together with a demonstrable competency in one or more of those areas. Prior experience serving on a governance board will be be an advantage as will a knowledge of and/or interest in basketball.
Board members accept a commitment to acting in a manner befitting Board membership status. This principle requires that members consider whether conduct in professional or private life will reflect adversely on the Board.
Time commitment
The executive committee meets once a month and annually at the AGM. Additionally members may attend management group meetings in their area of interest.
