Exciting New Structure On The Way For WBA

With the announcement of Kelvin Bowers joining Warrandyte Basketball as the senior men's director, the search is now on for a senior women's director and with it will come a new on-court and coaching structure extending from Redbacks all the way through to Venom juniors and seniors.

Due to be released in June, the new structure will clearly identify the pathway for young players, announce the key coaches and co-ordinators across all Warrandyte Basketball programs, contain policies around the on-court selection and playing criteria, outline the association's extensive support programs for players and establish the desired platform for the number of teams competing at VJBL level.

Current WBA coaching co-ordinator, Justin Nelson, who will be stepping down from his position in September this year, believes the new structure is a progressive step that is going to unveil a number of experienced coaches and support staff to help take Warrandyte Basketball to the next level.

"With Kelvin Bowers coming on board and some exciting developments on the women's side of the club as well, this new structure comes at an ideal time for Warrandyte Basketball," says Nelson.

"I've been at the club for four years now and I'm looking forward to continuing as a coach, but the growth during this time has been amazing and it's now time to take the next steps and ensure that our operational and management structures are staying a step ahead.

"For the first time the club will have a senior director for men/boys and a senior director for women/girls, a terrific step forward that will add two new people with great experience to our program. Kelvin is already on board and hopefully we aren't too far away from announcing our women's director," added Nelson.

"The new structure is very much about the pathway the club offers all players, the policies around certain aspects of that pathway and the key programs that are in place to assist with providing that pathway.

"It also highlights a coaching structure that I believe adds high-level support to all coaches and helps parents to become more involved with helping and working with coaches."

Once complete and endorsed by the committee, the new on-court playing and coaching structure will be made available to all members.
