Venom On Verge Of Finals After Clipping Eagles

Warrandyte Venom remains on track to make this year's Big V finals after a fantastic 67-52 win against the Craigieburn Eagles. Leading from start to finish, the Venom entertained the vocal home crowd with an exciting brand of basketball.

Captain Jaz Borella (pictured) was instrumental in the win, leading from the front with experience and poise to post 15 points and 10 rebounds, and was ably assisted by Sharlene Dalsanto (18 points, 14 rebounds), Ashlee Brobbel (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Janelle Lucas (12 points, six rebounds & five steals).

Having just turned 16 a week earlier, Ash Brobbel delivered in a big way, playing just over 20 minutes for her double-double, a career best that is sure to cement her status as a senior player for years to come.

The Venom face another crucial double-header this week, starting with a showdown against third-placed Hawthorn on Saturday night, before heading home to host second-placed Sunbury on Sunday at WSC from 3pm.
