September is a very busy time around Warrandyte Basketball. The AGM has been held and we have new committee members including a new President, Treasurer and Secretary, Venom Tryouts will start soon, the Annual Award & Trivia Night will be huge, plus we are about to hold our Rebacks and Venom Presentation Days.

WARRANDYTE BASKETBALL AGM
The AGM was held on September 2 and we're happy to report we continue to have a successful and hard-working committee in place for the coming year. Whilst it was sad to say goodbye to Doug Hilton, Craig Trenfield, Karen Buckley and Michael Flynn, it was good to welcome Allen Bollands, Mark Padfield, Ali Keppel and Justin Nelson.

Retiring president Doug Hilton gave a glowing report and whilst stepping down due to work commitments, he will continue to be heavily involved as a coach in both the Redbacks and Venom programs, along with assisting Stephen Bendle with member protection requirements.

After nearly five years as treasurer Craig Trenfield is looking forward to a break after overseeing a massive surge in financial operations and performing his role with absolute professionalism and integrity.

Karen Buckley has played a huge role in advancing the club's property shops and merchandise sales and will now play a key role in teh coming months training up our new property shop volunteers, while Michael Flynn will focus on coaching after bringing much experience and passion for the game to the committee in recent years. 

The committee for the coming year is: Justin Nelson (president), Lisa Saunders (vice president), Mark Padfield (treasurer), Allen Bollands (secretary), Ali Keppel, Mandy Ratcliffe, Kellie Taylor, Jenni O'Brien, Karen Reynolds, Roy Lane, Ann Cousens and Bruce De Lacy.

REDBACKS PRESENTATION DAY - Sunday September 13 from 5pm to 7pm
The Redbacks Presentation day will take on a whole new look this season. For the first time all teams will be involved in presentations with three awards to be presented to players in each team. The awards will start with all of the girls teams from 5pm, a Redbacks vs All Stars mini-game, followed by all the boys teams presentations. This year will also see special awards for coaches - two from the girls program and two from the boys program.

VENOM PRESENTATION DAY - Saturday September 19 from 2pm
The Venom Presentation day will follow last year's successful structure - starting at 2pm for the U12 and U14 teams, followed by the U16, U18 and U20 teams from 4pm. The day will include special guests and all the MVP announcements from season 2008/09.

ANNUAL AWARDS & TRIVIA NIGHT - Saturday September 19 at 7pm
The biggest night of the season, more than 160 people will enjoy an evening of fun and games, plus all the major club and Big V awards for the year. Always a great night and a huge fundraiser with prizes and auctions worth more than $10,000 up for grabs. Special guests this year include Glenn Archer and V8 Supercar driver Tony D'Alberto.

VENOM TRYOUTS - Start Sunday September 20
One season finishes and another season starts! Venom tryouts commence on Sunday September 20 throughout the day at Warrandyte Sports Complex, with weeks two and three on Sunday October 4 and 11. Check out all the details on the website under Venom Juniors.
