Another impressive scoring performance has been enough for Dolphins' big man Ben McCawley to claim GBL Winter Championship Player of the Week honours for Round 5.
Cujo', as he is affectionately known, scored 35 points in Dolphins 90-71 loss to YMCA.
As well as being an imposing presence inside the key, McCawley proved he could also be deadly from outside, knocking down four treys.
A key plank in the Big V Supercats roster, where he was a member of the 2011 Division 1 championship team, McCawley is averaging 33.5ppg to start the 2013 GBL season.

Basketball Geelong is excited to be the FIRST basketball organisation in Australia to launch Toddler Hoops – a FUN basketball program for 3 – 4years run by our Lady Supercat Sara Blicavs.

The Superball is coming up on Friday, 7th of June and is our largest fundraising event of the year. The theme is Masquerade and the event will, for the first time, be held on the Geelong waterfront at the Pier.

Life Member Clarrie Kerger was laid to rest this morning following a service at Barrabool Hills

Our deepest sympathies go out to Carolyn Kerger and family after the passing of Basketball Geelong life member, Clarrie Kerger, early yesterday morning the 20th Feb 2013. Clarrie was recently honoured with the Basketball Geelong Volunteer of the Year Award being named after him due to his many years of service to the sport of basketball in Geelong.The sad news of the passing of Clarrie Kerger after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn , Liz, Jenny and Michael and families.

The Funeral Service will be on Monday 25th Feb 2013 from 11am, at Tuckers Funeral and Bereavement Service, followed by the burial at the Highton cemetery.

The Basketball Geelong Volunteer of the Year award will from 2013 be known as the "Clarrie Kerger" Volunteer of the Year award, honouring Life Member Clarrie Kerger for his many years of service to basketball in Geelong

Congratulations to Matt Ginn on being selected to represent Country Vic at the 2013 Ivor Burge Championships from the 17th - 23rd Feb in Launceston, Tasmania.

Also after a re-examination of the VBRA Senior Panel Rankings an error was made, Matt was originally outside the top 6, however Matt has now ranked 3rd in Panel 5 and will be Panel 4 next year.

This is a great achievement in a referees career to be on Panel 4, and Nationals Selection, full credit to Matt on his hard work and dedication.

The ticket structure will be as follows:

Juniors $7 (up from $6.50)

U20/U23 $8 (up from $6.50)

Adults $9 (unchanged)

This small increase is the first increase since 2009 and only the 2nd in the last 8 years.
