Roosters PSSA Tag Gala Day

A beautiful sunny day greeted seven local public schools as they competed in the Annual PSSA Tag Gala Day. There was a change of venue to Waverley Oval this year as Queens Park were undergoing renovations.

The smaller venue meant less fields which resulted in the day being fairly busy with both Senior Girls and Senior Boys division playing continuously throughout the day. Defense was a strong point for most teams as many games were low scoring throughout the day.

Two schools dominated the Senior Boys Division as both Semi Finals saw Clovelly team v a Bronte team. Bronte prevailed in both games to play off for the right to be crowned the 2009 Senior Boys Champions. At the full time siren we had a draw which meant extra time saw a ‘drop off’ style format occur until a team scored to win. Bronte Blue were victors in the end with a runaway intercept try that crowned them Champions.

As for the Senior Girls, it was two Clovelly teams playing off in one Semi, while Bellevue Hill White versed Crown St for a place in the Final. In the end Bellevue Hill played Clovelly A with this game also going down to the wire. Clovelly scored in the dying minutes to win 1-0 and take home the title.

Thank you to all the Schools that competed and congratulations to all the winners on the day. We look forward to seeing you at next year's annual Tag Gala Days.
