Constitution

In preparing the new constitution both the EDJBA Executive and its constitution sub-committee have been guided by the stated principle that the active clubs of the EDJBA have sought and desire control of the association and its affairs. The original constitution was structured in such a way that the active clubs could be outvoted on any or all issues brought to General Meetings.

To that end various changes have been made to the previous constitution that reflects that desired change. In essence the clubs now, through their voting power at General Meetings, determine the policies and principles on which the association operates.

As two examples of the above the active clubs now have the power to determine by-laws governing the competition and determine the budget through a meeting of the association treasurer and the club treasurers.

The constitution reflects the new professionalism with which the association operates and recognises the appointment of paid staff to take on the roles of volunteers. This was necessary due to the growth of the association over the last three or four years and the workload generated by this growth.

The constitution now is a document that allows flexibility in the operation of the association but also allows for change in the future should this be desired.
