Summer programs getting underway
AFL Queensland and the Suncoast Power are already looking to the 2013 season, with the start of their summer programs in the coming weeks.
Suncoast Power Summer Development Program
The Suncoast Power Summer Development Program is only open to players born in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 who have been nominated by their clubs for participation in the program.
The Suncoast Power Summer Development Program is designed to give all players the opportunity to improve individually and to be guided over the summer months in a controlled atmosphere by the coaching staff of the Suncoast Power and other specialist staff.
The program will commence on Monday November 5, Tuesday November 6 or Wednesday November 7 with a testing and orientation day.
Participants will be able to nominate which day they wish to test on.
This year the Suncoast Power Summer Development Program will consist of two blocks. The first will go for six weeks pre-Christmas and give the participant a semi-flexible approach to training while the second block will be done on one evening for six weeks starting late January/early February.
The cost of the Suncoast Power Summer Development Program is $145.00. This includes a training singlet, coaching, facilities, on site sports trainer, fruit and drink provided after training as well as the 12 week program.
2012/13 Summer Skills and Fitness Program
The 2012/13 Summer Skills & Fitness Program is for boys born in 2000 and 2001 and for girls born from 1997-2000.
AFL Queensland will only be accepting limited numbers, so get in fast, as there is only room for 40 boys and 20 Girls.
It is being offered as a tool for players to improve in preparation for the 2013 AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors season.
There will be five Monday sessions prior to Christmas and a further five sessions in the New Year on the following dates from 4.30 – 6.00pm.
November 12, 19, 26, December 3 and 10
January 28, February 4, 11, 18 and 25
The cost of the program is $140.00 which will include a 3 game general admission junior membership to the Lions for 2013, a Junior playing manual as well as other Lions benefits, a training singlet plus testing with our state of the art timing gates and vertical jump system, fruit and drinks supplied after training, game sense activities and structure and set play work.
