Congratulations Taylor Lilley!

Her efforts helped Northside to turn around from trailing by two points at the first break, to go into halftime up by 13 points, before pulling away and dominating the second half to take the 26-point win. Lilley shot 10 points in the third quarter, including two three-pointers to help her side establish a solid lead to take the win out of the reach of Cairns.

She backed up her performance the following night against Townsville, notching up 25 points at 50 percent in the field and 41.7 percent at the three-point line, seven rebounds and five assists in the Wizards’ 87-69 point victory over the Townsville Flames. Lilley was again instrumental in helping Northside to set themselves up for a comfortable win, contributing 10 points in the second half to see the Wizards lead by five points at the halftime break, and nine points in the third quarter to take their lead to 14 points by three-quarter time.

The import’s inclusion to the Northside line-up this season has been invaluable to the side, with the team benefiting from her sharp shooting skills – Lilley currently leads the league’s shooters with an average of 25.9 points per game, in addition to an average of six rebounds per game. She took out the Player of the Week award in Round 12 after hitting 32 points at a rate of 80 percent in the field to help the Wizards take out their match against the Gold Coast, and also was awarded the title in Round 5, following her 35 point effort in Northside’s win over Brisbane.

Born in California, it’s the 24 year old’s first season in the QBL and in Australia, joining the league following a successful college career in the United States with the University of Oregon, where she averaged 17.7 points per game in her final year in 2010, set a single-season college record in the 2006/2007 season, hitting 50.6 percent at the perimeter from 77 attempts, and set a new record for the college with 214 three-pointer attempts, with her 74 three-pointers in the same season ranked second in Oregon single-season history, during the 2007/2008 season. She was also ranked fourth all-time in Oregon history with her 146 career three-pointers. Lilley’s statistics saw her named in the All-Pac-10 3rd Team in 2008, and All-Pac 10 Team in 2010 for the NCAA Pacific Conference, and also named as an All-American in 2010. Post-college, Lilley was picked up by the Phoenix Mercury WNBA team in 2010, playing 22 games in the season, and going to the WNBA semifinals. In 2010/2011 Lilley played for Israeli league team Maagan Michael, before returning to the states to re-join the Mercury for the WNBA pre-season
