Basketball Qld National Performance Program

Entering its second year, the Basketball Queensland NPP has achieved some amazing results in 2012 with two players being selected to represent Australia at the 18 & Under World 3X3 tournament in Madrid, Spain. In addition, the Basketball Queensland NPP had two players selected to attend the NBA’s Nike “Basketball Without Boarders” camp help in Tokyo Japan. At this camp the players were coached by NBA coaches and played alongside genuine NBA players. Another achievement of the program saw one of the players accept a four year scholarship at a prestigious NCAA Division 1 university this year.

Located in Brisbane and primarily based at the Queensland Academy of Sport, the BQ NPP takes an holistic approach in the development of the athlete, engaging with all parties to ensure that the athletes workload is managed properly and to ensure we have maximum improvement in all phases of the athletes life. We provide our NPP athletes with individual skill development sessions twice each week, refining the fundamentals of the game and teaching the more advanced skills to our elite players. The NPP athletes are tested three times each year and each athlete is given a hyper-profile performance system, which is a multi-disciplined approach using high performance strength and conditioning methods, cutting edge injury management techniques, and a customized nutrition program to offer maximum improvement results for the athlete. The athletes work with a specialized performance coach 3 times a week to improve their strength, fitness and speed.

The National Performance Program is a key component of Basketball Australia’s national player pathway and is the most elite development program Basketball Queensland offers for our senior and junior men and women players.
