Basketball Qld Future Leaders Program
The Future Leaders Program will be launched in December 2012 to help develop the skills and potential of the next generation of basketball associations’ leaders.
Specifically tailored to the sport industry, it is delivered by the not-for-profit state sport organisation (SSO): Basketball Queensland.
Program Overview
Future Leaders Program is an intensive two day residential program held in Brisbane, followed by a practical individual project and volunteer work experience as a management committee member.
The program has two main streams, each with its own objectives:
Leadership development
Provide participants with knowledge and understanding of management of the not for profit sport associations
Increase participants’ involvement at regional and state levels
Develop self-awareness and specific leadership skills pertinent to the sport industry
Industry knowledge / Project + Work Experience
Increase and promote awareness and understanding of broader sport industry issues
Increase and promote awareness of the roles and functions of management committees
Encourage initiatives to improve basketball associations’ future and current operations
Increase number of young volunteers aged 18-35 on the management committees
Effectively undertake a practical project as a learning tool.
