Coaching Profile of the Month
Glenn Fontana is a well know member of Australia’s football community not only the local Wollongong area but also the NSW State and National levels.
He has a long history as a player and coach locally and on the State level.
Glenn’s position with the NSW State Soccer Federation also involves scouting, coaching and identification of the most talented young players within the 8 to 16 age group.
Since 2001 Glenn has become the chief scout in Australia for Liverpool FC and more recently Fulham FC.
I am very proud of the pathway that my staff and I have achieved in the last three years in particular our SAP, RYL, Girls and Boys development squads. This has given many children the opportunity to be trained by qualified FFA technicians.

I've been fortunate to have been involved with the game for a long time and to have been associated with some top class Managers and Players. Through the years I've picked up pointers which I regard go with my philosophy of the game. So now I'm passing on that knowledge and techniques to the younger generation, although you never stop learning.
The game in Australia has vastly improved since I arrived, better organised, more professional, with an avenue for todays kids to strive for.
I'ts a great thrill to see the kids develop and progress as the years go by, there's always a place within the game for everyone.
In my case its strange to see young kids I'm coaching, who's Fathers I've coached in the past.

Football has provided me with many opportunities in life that I will be forever grateful for. I have had a number of local and national coaches over the years that have given me technical and structural insight into how the game can be both taught and played. I am honored to be in a position now where I can give back to the grass roots level, to help inspire and partner with many young, talented athletes across our local area. Playing a significant role in these young players development has been, and will continue to be, a very rewarding experience.

"I was lucky enough to be able to play football for around thirty years and play with, and against, some very good players in district football. Also had the opportunity to work with some good coaches in that time as well, and now as a coach myself, through continually working on my football education, am able to help young players develop a passion for the game and help them to develop their potential. Also importantly through the FFA courses I instruct on, help the volunteer coaches begin their coaching journey to aid the development of their young players."
JACOB TIMPANO
FSC utilises a number of coaches throughout our region with considerable playing and coaching experience. All of our coaches are accredited with Football Federation Australia (FFA) to ensure that our programs including our school holiday clinics, FSC Academy, Girls Acquisition Program and our elite programs (being SAP and RYL) are conducted and are of the highest possible standard and in accordance with the FFA National Cirriculum.
Each month FSC will be featuring our Coach of the Month. Our first coach of the month is Jacob Timpano. Here is some information about Jacob who has now been an FSC coach for three years. Jacob has a real passion for junior development and is involved in a number of our FSC programs.

"Coming through the Illawarra and Wolves junior system and following the pathway onto National Youth team honours, NSL and A-League, I know what is required to reach this level. As a coach my aim is to help develop the local children to hopefully achieve what I was able to, pass on my experiences and be a good example for all our players".
