Balmain vs Newtown

The Sydney Womens's AFL is the premier Australian Football League for women in NSW. Established in 1999, the league now consists of six clubs - Balmain, Newtown, Sydney Uni, UNSW / Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs, Southern Power, Macquarie Uni and Bondi Shamrocks - with two new teams expected to join in 2010 - UTS and University of Wollongong Bulldogs.

It's a fantastic sport for girls of all ages - competitive, skilful and fun for everyone involved. If you love kicking a footy in the park, or have always wanted to play something a little different, AFL is the sport for you.


All girls over the age of 15 can play. If your daughter is younger than this age, or has been playing Auskick or rec footy at school, please make contact with the league to establish the best pathway into women's AFL. If your daughter is living in the vicinity of Shoalhaven/Illawarra/South West Sydney, the Illawarra Youth Girls AFL could be an appropriate vehicle.
