Eagles claim Minor Premiership
The Blues and Bulldogs fought out the battle for the "wooden spoon" in game 1 last weekend, with the Dogs running out close winners 11 9 75 to 8 8 56. The question is whether the Dogs have the artillery to go on from here to mix it with the big guns, or can the Blues fire up in the finals to cause an upset in the semi-final against the top placed Eagles.
The Eagles took early control over the Cougars in the battle for top position on the ladder, but to their credit, the cougars fought back strongly in the third term to draw wthin 11-points. They failed to go on with it in the last quarter, not helped by a prevailing wind that favoured the Eagles. The University Cougars will be keen to atone this weekend as they play for a Grand Final berth against the wiley and unpredictable Bulldogs.
