Garrett Scheibner Makes Australian U17 Men's Squad For World Championships

Basketball Australia can announce the eighteen athletes that make up the Australian U17 men's basketball squad.

The team that contests the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship for Men from July 2-11 will be selected from the squad.

It will be the first time FIBA, basketball’s world governing body, has held a World Championship in this age category.

The FIBA U17 World Championship for men will be held in Hamburg, Germany, while the women’s tournament will be held in Toulouse and Rodez in France from July 16-26.

Australia qualified for the men’s event in August by winning the 2009 FIBA U17 Oceania Championship in Auchenflower, Queensland.

Victoria is the most represented state with eight athletes while the Northern Territory is the only Australian state or territory without a representative in the squad.

200cm Knox Raiders forward Patrick Mockiewicz is the youngest athlete selected at 15 years and 9 months of age while Norths (ACT) forward Stephen Rowe is the oldest at 16 years and 10 months.

City of Sydney Comets (NSW) centre Andrija Dumovic is the tallest athlete selected at 205cm while Sutherland Sharks (NSW) guard Daniel Hill is the shortest at just 172cm.

The average height of all players in the squad is 192.3cm.
