Future Basketball Identification Program

NEW PLAYER PATHWAY PROGRAM TO COMMENCE IN 2011 AT BRISBANE BASKETBALL

In 2011 Brisbane Basketball will be introducing a number of new programs and initiatives aimed at athletes interested in developing their skills and furthering their understanding of the game of basketball. 

One such program which will commence in Term 2 2011 is the Brisbane Basketball F.B.I (Future Basketball Identification) Program. The outline and aims of the program will include:

·         Aimed at athletes aged 15-20 years of age who aspire to higher levels of basketball (State Teams, ITC, US College, NBL, WNBL) 

·         Provide individual player assessment and coaching in the form of small group sessions (conducted each week) and camps/clinics (conducted on weekends or school holidays)

·         Deliver individual basketball skill sessions, strength and conditioning and education in sport psychology, nutrition, goal setting and time management

·         Quantifiable assessment of player progress through skill and fitness testing, video analysis, written player reports and regular player/coach meetings

·         Program tailored according to player strengths/weaknesses to help them best achieve their desired goals in basketball.

·         Assistance with securing US College or Professional Team opportunities through tours, special guest coaches and talent ID camps/tournaments gaining exposure to a vast list of contacts here in Australia and overseas

·         Each player to receive approx. 100 hours over 5 months of specialist coaching and tuition including weekly small group sessions, 2-3 camps/clinics, testing sessions, video analysis and extra-curricular sessions (sport psychology, nutrition, goal setting and time management)

·         Program co-ordinated by Dale Ryan (former SEABL and NBL player, 2007 Brisbane Bullets NBL championship (Assistant Coach), current Brisbane Capitals QBL Men’s Head Coach and Under 20 Queensland State Team Head Coach – worked with over 50 athletes who have gone on to play US College and Professional levels of Basketball) and Dwayne Vigilance (former Canadian University Coach, Under Queensland State Team Assistant Coach and current Brisbane Capitals Women’s Head Coach)

·         All players will be supplied with training uniforms and receive a free 6 month gym member ship as part of the program

 ·         It is anticipated that program will have an initial intake of approx 20-25 athletes

It is anticipated that the program will commence on the week commencing the 9th May and run for 20-22 weeks leading up to the commencement of the 2011-2012 Junior Representative season.
