Since moving to the AIS on Scholarship in 2009 Corban has become a leader, a confidant, and a friend to his foes. The prestige of playing for his country has had a significant impact upon this young man in a very positive way. His performance is outstanding whether it be for Club, Association, State, AIS or Australia.   Corban’s efforts can only be described as giving 110% to every team in every game in every competition.

Corban’s competitive nature is about playing hard to win. Corban plays a very tough defensive game which is second to none. He is tough on the court for any opponent to beat, has the greatest respect for his team mates and coach. Rated as an explosive playmaking guard he was instrumental in helping Australia capture the 19 and Under championship in the 2010 Albert Schweitzer Tournament, and was particularly impressive in Australia’s upset victory over Team USA.

Corban has represented Queensland since winning club Under-14 State Championships in 2006.   He currently attends the Australian Institute of Sport and has been a scholarship holder since 2009. He is rated as a terrific penetrator and finisher, an aggressive and physical defender, and a very good athlete with a developing outside game.

Corban always has positive influences on team mates on and off the court. Three years at the AIS has honed his skills and mental ability to believe that anything is possible. His ultimate goal is to represent Australia at the Olympics and pursue a basketball career.

Being part of a team, respected by all opponents, before and after each game, he has basketball skill and intelligence beyond his 18 years. Corban has demonstrated excellent sportsmanship for fellow team members and members of the opposing team. A sportsman who never blames or criticises teammates for mistakes or poor performance, Corban has respect for the coaching staff, officials, and spectators. He has learned to never argue with the judgement, calls, or decisions of officials or coaches. He is now gracious in victory or defeat.

At the Under-14 Nationals in Canberra 2010 he was invited by Basketball Australia to be the guest speaker. Corban spoke of his life experience from when he first attended the same Championships. He spoke to the audience about respect for one another and to give thanks to parents who have paid in time and money for them to have the opportunity to attend such an event. His advice to the participants was to believe in themselves and to follow their dream.
