Brisbane bolster Back Court

The QBL Brisbane Capitals continue to make inroads into ensuring that they will be even stronger under Coach Kristen Veal with the signing of potent scoring guard Heidi Freeburn. Freeburn who last year played for the Gold Coast Rollers believes that playing for Brisbane will see her game go to a whole new level.

After last year managing to steer the Rollers to a play-off spot Heidi was drawn to the Caps program because of where the program is headed as well as what she believes will come to fruition in the future “I think Brisbane is heading in the right direction and I was very keen to be a part of that, I want to help them move forward, the coaching staff have a good knowledge of what it means to build success and I want to help them do that."

Freeburn who is known for her ability to score at will but also is very quick says she won't mind playing between both guard spots but believes she can better help the team at the two guard. "I prefer to play the two spot, but don't mind slotting into the one when needed."

Heidi has shown that her maturity and level head under pressure has been an asset to many of her past teams wih stints at Mackay, South West and hailing from the Gosford City Rebels in NSW. Her ability to assist junior guards to a higher standard of play will mean that the younger Lady Caps will have a mentor that they can rely on.

Last year playing under Coach Trish Cockrem Freeburn had averages of 12.4 points on 37.1% shooting from the field, somthing she feels she can very much improve on and at the same time give the Caps a scorer in transition where she is most deadly.

With more announcements to be made shortly the Caps are well on their way to building for success in 2013, with Open Trials to be held over the next two Thursdays, players are encouraged to attend.
