Capitals Secures Jeffries for Two

The Brisbane Capitals QBL men’s program has wasted little time in assembling their roster for the 2015 season by re-signing explosive guard Ryan Jeffries for the next two seasons.

After bowing out of the finals race last weekend to Mackay Meteors 87 - 97 in the semi-final in Mackay the Capitals were quick to pounce on the prolific scorer.

The hard working 28-year old brings over 200 games experience, spanning 10 seasons in the QBL.

“I’m very excited to return to the Caps for another two seasons. Having the opportunity to stay in Brisbane was something I really wanted to do and a golden opportunity for me. The front office is in the process of putting together another exciting roster next year,” said Jeffries.

“There’s a real strive within the Club to bring a Championship to the South and it’s exciting to be a part of the group again and hopefully continue to help the club grow into the future. I’m confident we’ll retain a big part of last season’s roster yet again but we’ve got plenty of work to do together.

“Personally, I’m going to work hard in the off-season to try and contribute more to the team next season and am extremely grateful to have another opportunity to play at the highest level in the State with a great group of guys and for a very proud club."

Brisbane Capitals QBL manager Joe Tertzakian is glad he is keeping the Capitals back-to-back Finals MVP for another two seasons.

"Jeffers is an integral part of the club both on and off the court. He basically came to the Club at the same time I did and after spending a lot of time with him at the Gold Coast Blaze, it was really a no brainer to retain him for another two,” said Tertzakian.

In 2014 Jeffries averaged 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and on more than half the regular season games scored over 20 plus points.

The Brisbane Capitals officially ended their 2014 QBL campaign in a ritzy affair at the glamorous Brisbane Marriott Hotel yet are expected to make another major announcement early next week.

With the close of the QBL season, all attentions now focus to the NBL Pre Season Blitz being hosted at Auchenflower Stadium next weekend, Friday 19 – Sunday 21 September. Click HERE for all session times, ticket prices and purchases.
