GF Details: Brisbane Capitals v Logan Storm: Under 14 Boys Challenge Cup Grand Final (10.00am Court 1)

SF Recap: Before playing Logan this Saturday, Brisbane defeated Southern Districts 62-45 in the Semi-Final last weekend at a neutral venue.

SF Recap: After securing second place in a hotly contested battle in Division 2, our Caps went on to defeat Southern Districts 74-58 in last weekend’s Semi-Final.

GF Notes: After a close three-point loss in round 6 (77-80), Brisbane tied the series against Phoenix in round 13 with an emphatic home court victory (90-65).

Under 18 Girls SILVER (Finished 3rd in Southern Cup with a 11-3 record).

GF Details: Brisbane Capitals v Gold Coast Waves: Under 18 Girls Southern Cup Grand Final Saturday (8.00pm Court 1)

SF Recap: After their Division Two state championship win earlier this year, and an overall 13th place finish in the state, our Lady Caps built on their early 2016 form and turned their attention on the home straight of the BQJBC with a six game win streak to close out the regular season. In last week’s Semi-Final, our Lady Caps defeated a determined Logan outfit on their home court 69-63.

GF Notes: Against the Waves, the series is tied at one a piece, with Brisbane victorious in a tight round 10 away game 50-48. With identical win-loss records, this game may well prove to be one of the games of the day.

Under 18 Boys BRONZE (Finished 1st in Challenge Cup with a 11-3 record).

GF Details: Brisbane Capitals v Caboolture Suns: Under 18 Boys Challenge Cup Grand Final (12.00pm Court 4)

SF Recap: Brisbane played Gold Coast just once this season, after the Waves were relegated from Division 2. The round 13 away game proved to be a very tight battle with our Caps coming away with a 50-48 win. Two games later, our Boys played the Waves in the Semi-Final, and took a commanding 34-point victory (91-57) to book their spot in the Challenge Cup Grand Final v Caboolture.

GF Notes: Against the Suns, the series is split one all, with Caboolture winning the last outing in round 11 on their home court 54-64.

Under 18 Boys GOLD (Finished 1st in Premier League with a 12-2 record).

GF Details: Brisbane Capitals v Gold Coast Waves: Under 18 Boys Premier League Grand Final (8.00pm Court 4)

SF Recap: Our undermanned Capitals team defeated a dangerous Seahawks team in last weekend’s Semi-Final clash at NAB Stadium, 90-70. The Seahawks had previously snatched a game away from the Caps tying the series at one each.

GF Notes: The series against Gold Coast is very close, with our Caps and the Waves holding the home court advantage against each other throughout the season. Both teams also met in the Championship game at the recent 2016 Under 18 State Championships, where the Waves took out the contest 56-70. However, in their most recent match up in round 12 on February 14thBrisbane closed this margin 64-69 in an away game. This Grand Final will be hotly contested by both teams.

Under 21 Men (Finished 2nd in Premier League with a 10-2 record).

GF Details: Brisbane Capitals v South West Metro Pirates: Under 21 Men Premier League Grand Final (8.00pm Court 2)

The Under 21 Men’s team is part of the Brisbane Capitals Senior Performance Program and forms an essential component of Brisbane Basketball’s pipeline from our Junior Performance program into the Men’s QBL & SBL Teams.

SF Recap: Last weekend, the Capitals had a 2015 Grand Final rematch against the then victors, Ipswich Force. In 2015, the game was neck and neck, however this year’s Semi Final game v Ipswich the outcome was quite different with our Caps advancing to the Grand Final on a 17-point win (69-52).

GF Notes: Brisbane has only faced the Pirates on one other occasion this season in a closely fought round 6 away game loss (61-65).  However, since that defeat, the U21 Men’s team has gone on an eight game winning streak.

As a further measure of the overall depth of talent across all the age groups, the Capitals are again in contention for the Harold Peacock Shield (awarded to the Association with the total number of highest ranked teams in Premier League). The Capitals finished 2nd in 2015, tied with Ipswich and runners up to Southern Districts.
