Front Office Appointments - Confirmed

The biggest Basketball Association in Queensland held its Annual General Meeting last night at NAB Stadium, Auchenflower with President Richard Perry making two major announcements for the Club, moving forward.

The long and arduous process of selecting a new General Manager has finally come to an end with the confirmation that Trevor Lidstone who has been acting in that capacity since November 2012, has accepted the role. Trevor will take the reins of the Association effective immediately as its General Manager.

Trevor has been instrumental in the running of the Association for the past eight months which included the State Under 14 Girls Championships and the flagship of tournaments, the National Under 18 Men’s and Women’s Championships whist under his watch.

Both tournaments were a huge success and a testament to not only Lidstone’s leadership and direction, but the dynamic team that he leads.

“I have had tremendous support and guidance from the staff and management committee from day one,” he said.

“We have discussed plenty of topics, not always agreed on them all but never the less we’ve had the discussion and that’s a positive thing in my eyes,” he concluded.

In another major coup for the Club, it was also confirmed last night that Joe Tertzakian, otherwise known simply as Big Joe has been appointed by Basketball Queensland as Brisbane Basketball’s Regional Services Manager.

Big Joe has spent the past 12 years in the National Basketball League with the Brisbane Bullets and the Gold Coast Blaze and brings a wealth of experience at the QBL and Club levels.

Under his direction, the Brisbane Capitals SBL & QBL programs have clearly been revitalized and are reflected by the team’s tremendous success on the court to date.

Big Joe will be working closely with the Clubs to bolster junior participation, provide governance and direction in marketing, sponsorships and social media.

His retention in this new role is an integral part of the ongoing development of Brisbane Basketball administration and the Club is extremely proud and confident of these recent appointments.
