2013 - Year 9 Tournament
Over the past weekend 19 boys and girls, year nine teams from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast and Metropolitan Brisbane converged into NAB Stadium, Auchenflower to vie for the Annual Year 9 Schools Championship supremacy and be labelled the best.
Brisbane State High boys, who won this tournament last year as a year 8 team were back to defend their title. However there were a host of other schools who has other ideas.
St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace and Palm Beach Currumbin presented tough opposition in the earlier rounds however the boys from State High breezed through the round games and rocketed into the Grand Final where Palm Beach Currumbin were ready to give them a crack.
But nothing was going to stand in the way of Back-to-Back Championships with a resounding 61 – 32 victory.
In the women’s bracket, Palm Beach Currumbin was victorious over Moreton Bay College 33 – 29 in a tough encounter.
