QBL Player Profile: Ryan Jeffries

Ryan Jeffries, proudly sponsored by the Adaptit Group for the 2015 QBL Season is showing a solid start to the season.  The Capital’s Co- Captain is in his third season with Brisbane this year. The hard working "Jeffers" brings over 200 games experience, spanning 10 seasons in the QBL. Averaging 14.5 points and 3.5 rebounds for the season so far, the 2014 Most Valuable Player is set to help the Hudor Brisbane Capitals along towards their finals goals.

How do you feel about the QBL season so far?

The season has been great so far. Obviously a bit disappointing dropping our first game at home, but since then we've gone from strength to strength. There's a special feeling within the group. Everyone's working hard and competing every time we step on the floor.

How does the season look ahead and what are team’s objectives?

We've got some tough games ahead especially our last round which is the Rocky/Mackay road trip. Each week we are just trying to build and get momentum leading into hopefully a home grand final. No south team has achieved that since Brisbane did over a decade ago.

Which team is going to be toughest and why?

Either Mackay or Rocky, considering we have to play them both on their home floors. Both of their stadiums are the two hardest places to get a win in the league.

What is your role in this team?

To be a leader. Alex and I are co-captains so we try our best to lead in whatever way we can. Apart from that I'd say just to be a threat and aggressive offensively whilst playing solid defense.

What’s your best basketball memory?

2013 grand final. Everyone expected us to be wooden spooners. To knock out some stacked teams and get to the grand final was a massive effort. Unfortunately we fell short and lost by 7.

Brisbane QBL and SBL teams host games at NAB Stadium this Saturday. SBL face off against Seahawks GC, Women tip off at 2pm, followed by Men at 4pm. QBL then take on Ipswich Force for some great basketball with Women at 6pm and Men at 8pm.
