205 QBL and SBL Awards Hudor Brisbane Capitals

Hudor Brisbane Capital players Dusty Rychart and D’lesha Lloyd were recognised on Saturday night winning the club’s Most Valuable Player Awards at the presentation dinner at the Marriot Brisbane.

Both players showed tremendous grit and determination throughout the season and Dusty no more so than in the finals series where his experience and basketball IQ was most evident.

Their stats for the season were - Dusty 13.7 points per game and 10.7 rebounds 2.0 assists and D’lesha 23 points, 9.4 rebounds 2.5 assists. Additionally as a result of his performance over the season the QBL selected Dusty in the 2015 QBL All League team.

In other awards Hudor Brisbane Capitals guard Anthony Kopcikas was awarded best defensive player and Emma Kopcikas the Coaches award. While different in title these awards reflect a personal commitment to hard work and disruption of the opponents system.

The final awards conferred were received by Kurt Thompson as the player of the finals series and Courtney Woods who is seen as the “most likely” indicating a bright future given the potential identified to date.

Tonight also saw the announcement of the Brisbane Capitals Southern Basketball League awards, both teams were in the mix in the finals with the SBL Women finishing their season as undefeated champions.

SBL Men MVP Christian Lam

SBL Men Coaches Award Jordan Brain

SBL Women’s MVP Madie Woodford

SBL Women’s Coaches Award Emily Bowden

Like all programs across the league the there is tremendous amount of work that is undertaken not only by the players and staff of the QBL and SBL teams there are BBI staff members that volunteer their time along with the trusted QBL volunteer crew.
