Brisbane, QLD. – The Hudor Brisbane Men’s Capitals take on the Logan Thunder this Friday evening in Round 9 action of the QBL.
The Men’s Capitals tip off at 8.30pm at NAB Stadium.

THE CAPITALS (2nd 8 – 2; 3 – 1 at home)

The Caps return to NAB Stadium this Friday night after taking on Rockhampton (Round 7 at home) and then #3 Sunshine Coast Clippers (round 8 on the road). Against the Rockets, Brisbane saw six players in double figures in the 106-93 victory. The round 8 game v the Clippers saw Captain Ryan Jeffries lead his team with 30pts, with strong support by Aaron Anderson (24pts, 8rbs) and Dusty Rychart (17pts, 9rbs).
ROUND 9 v #3 LOGAN THUNDER (7 – 3; 4 – 2 on the road)

In their return to the QBL in 2015 Season, Logan finished 12th with a 5 – 12 record in the regular season. However, much like their women’s program, 2016 has proven a reversal of fortune as the Thunder improve to 3rd on the QBL ladder after round 8. The two wins on the road last weekend pushed Logan to seven wins for the season, surpassing last year’s total.
Series Record: Caps lead 2 – 0 (1 – 0 at NAB Stadium) since the Thunder’s return to the league in 2015.
Last Meeting: The Caps won 119 – 79 in Rd 14 of last season at the Cornubia Park Sports Centre.
Notables: Like most teams,Logan’s offence has gone through some adjustments throughout the season, however over the last four games, the Thunder have averaged 21 shot attempts per game less than their first six games; including 8 less 3pt shot attempts per game. This offensive change has had a significant effect on their overall points production (dropping from 104ppg to 85.5ppg) despite lifting their FG% to 50.0 in these last four games.
THE DOG SQUAD
The Caps affectionately named “Dog Squad” definitely left their mark at NAB Stadium in Round 7’s home game win v Rockhampton Rockets. Anthony Kopcikas led Brisbane with 9assists to go along with his 11pts, 5rbs and some suffocating defence that he has been come to known for throughout the league. The Big Dog himself, Drew Phillips contributed 9ts and 9rbs, along with Centre Tom Malloy’s 8pts and 6rb contribution. Jake Davis relished the opportunity and compiled 19pts off the bench.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Dusty Rychart is one of the most consistently impactful players in the QBL. With over 70 games with the Caps, Dusty’s career QBL average of 15.2ppg and 11.2rpg is a bench mark few will experience. This season, Dusty has already compiled two double-doubles, narrowly missing a third last round v the Clippers (17pts & 9rbs). Over the last four games, Dusty is averaging 13.25ppg and 10.75ppg.
HOME SWEET HOME at the DOME:
Since round 1 of the 2015 season, the Hudor Brisbane Men’s Capitals hold a regular and postseason home court record of 13 – 2 and look to extend on this home court record v Logan this Friday night. The Caps 11 game home court win streak, which they held since Round 3 last year, was snapped by South West Metro in Round 5.
SBL Men: The Brisbane Capitals SBL Men’s team (2nd, 6 – 1) are on the road again this weekend as they take on the Noosa Cyclones (15th, 0 – 6) this Sunday. Game is scheduled to tipoff at 11.30am at the Noosa Leisure Centre.
