Hegvold stadium is feared state-wide for its atmosphere at Rockets and Cyclones home games and now next month it will look to create that same atmosphere when hosting the three State of Origin matches to raise funds for the Give Me Five For Kids, the Rockhampton Junior Rep program and facility upgrades.

As of Wednesday 15/05/13 if players competing in both Junior and Senior, all age groups and divisions are not printed on the score sheet to show they are registered they will be unable to take the court.
In the event an unregistered player does compete, his/her team will receive a forfeit the game.

The Top Gun Academy is a 6 week program designed to provide athletes who desire to further their skills in Basketball. The Academy is split into age groups U10’s/U12’s/U14’s/U16’s/U18’s and is open to all RBI members. During the program athletes will work with various Representative Coaches and Players from Rockhampton Basketball.

Rockhampton Basketball will be well represented in the Queensland U16 State Team this year after 4 boys (Damon and Leon Christensen, Malachi Shanahan and Sheldon Whitworth) and 2 girls (Briana Bailey & Kaitlyn Hill) were named at the completion of the U16 State Championships held in Rockhampton and Cairns last week. A further two Rockhampton boys (Bailey Meyers & Nick Magnussen) were named as emergencies and selected to the Emerging QLD teams while Anna Dyer was also selected to the Emerging QLD team.

This is your chance to get up-close & personal with the Minecorp Rockets and Frenchville Sports Club Cyclones by attending the Easter School Holiday Basketball Camp. The Holiday Camp is a great opportunity to work with many of the best basketballer’s and coaches in Rockhampton, and most importantly, your CYCLONES & ROCKETS.
As part of the Camp participants will learn the tricks of the trade from all the Rockets and Cyclones players in a FUN safe environment. The emphasis for the day is ‘Skill, Fun & Play’. Learn the skills, practice them in fun mini- games, and finally put it all together in 5 on 5 Basketball. On top of this Rockets & Cyclone players will be sharing the lessons they have learnt over their journey as athletes, as well as hosting Q&A time, shootouts and skills competitions.

Friday 8th of March, Rockhampton Basketball is scheduled to have a break-up round for all U/10 teams.
Each participant of the afternoon will receive a participation medal and an icy-cup voucher.
The draw for this round will be able to be found on the RBI Website from Monday 4th March from 3pm.

After due consideration, this honour has been bestowed upon two members, who deserved it above all others due to their tireless efforts to support RBI and its members. Rockhampton Basketball has secured a major win by being awarded a regular season bout between the defending WNBL champion Dandenong Rangers and the Logan Thunder on Fri 2nd November.
The round 5 match marks the first time Rockhampton has hosted an in-season national league game in either the men or women and has the added bonus of boasting the 2012 champion Ranger team.

This course is open to any coach wishing to attain this nationally-recognised coaching qualification and wanting to coach at representative Level within Queensland. The course will be presented by Basketball QLD’s new North QLD Development Manager Scott Butler in conjunction with the North QLD u/16 trials to be held in Rockhampton the same weekend. This is fantastic opportunity to gain a national coaching accreditation and to further your knowledge of the sport.

Our Mixed Competition will be suitable for new players to the sport and will be putting emphasis on fun and fitness in a social environment. Based on normal basketball rules with specific modifications to ensure safety and participation, ideal for families, workmates, social groups etc. Team nominations and individual enquiries will be taken.

Straight from his coaching duties at the 2012 London Olympic games with team Great Britain, Ken Shields is going to treat our coaches to an individual and team defensive concepts coaching clinic. Ken is recognised as one of the best skill teachers in the world after having represented 5 different countries internationally. Assisting Ken is Townsville Fire Head Coach Chris Lucas, fresh from his duties as the assistant coach of the Australian U17 women’s team which placed 5th at the recent world championships held in Amsterdam.

Adam has been selected as one of the two Queensland Refs to attend the school sport Australia 12years & Under basketball championships in Melbourne in August 2012. He has done Rockhampton Basketball and Queensland Basketball very proud! Well done Adam!

The new Rockhampton Junior Basketball 2012 Winter season begins with Sign on days Thursday 12th of April 2012 and Friday 13th of April. Fixtures will start on Thusday 19th April 2012 for U14, U16 and U18 and Friday 20th April 2012 for U10 and U12 competition games. Team Nomination Forms must be completed and handed in to the Stadium office. These can either be personally handed in as well as faxed (49224146) or emailed (developmentofficer@rockhamptonbasketball.com.au). Team Nomination Forms and Registration Forms can be obtained from the office as well as this website - select 'More Menus' then 'RBI Forms'. Each team must consist of a minimum of 6 core registered players. Cost of junior season registration per player is $140.00 for U10 and $170.00 for U12 and above and must be paid prior to taking the court. Junior Competition is based on age groups.
