Round 11 Rep Report

Three games in eight days was always going to be a test for any team, Third placed Maroochydore came to play and caught us off guard, turning a 30 point loss in round 1 to a 7 point will over a tired looking Pirates outfit, final score 65 – 72 to the Clippers.

Tuesday night was a catch up game at Calamvale against Logan. Although Logan are second from the bottom of the ladder it wasn’t all one way sailing, an impressive game high 20 points by Tall Timber Hayden Tompkins steered the Pirates on a shooting rampage in the 3rd. quarter. Hayden was supported by some sharp shooting from Tony Lou with 17 points and from Jack Williams with 14 points. The valued support off the bench ensured the mighty Pirates would come home with the win 94 – 63.

Saturdays was a must win game to stay in the top 2, the team headed to Entertainment centre to take on the Northside Wizards who themselves were trying to stay in the top 4. The Pirates started slow and it looked like it was going to be a long afternoon for the coaching staff. Being 15-1 down halfway through the first quarter came as a surprise after a strong week of training, however, the team started to close the gap by start of the second quarter. Pocket Dynamo Verle Williams (21 points for the game) exploded into life and with the assistance of the entire team managed to get us in front by half time, will also being supported by some smooth shooting from Jack 14, Tony 12 and Jerome 11. With some fine support off the bench, The Pirates once again come home with a 72 – 57 victory.

4 of the top 8 point scorers in the comp come from our impressive team.

This Saturday at 6.30pm we take on 6th. Placed Gold Coast at Carrara, another win will go close to a home semi final for these 11 very talented young men.
