Wolves survive Magic (Friday night wrap)

League number one the Wanneroo Wolves survived a scare to secure their 16th consecutive win after taking down third place Mandurah Magic 85-83.

Wanneroo came back from a sluggish first half to defeat the Magic, Greg Hire starred with 34 points and 17 rebounds while veteran Damian Matacz had 27 points and nine rebounds.

The second place Lakeside Lightning remain one win behind the Wolves after securing another victory last night taking down the 11th place Kalamunda Eastern Suns 106-89.

Lakeside were led to victory with stand out games from Brad Jackson (31 points), Jarrad Prue (19 points, 16 rebounds), Ryan Sofoulis (15 points) and Darrel Morgan (15 points).

The Perth Redbacks took down the Stirling Senators 94-82 to secure their place in the finals.

Blake Bender continued his solid form for the Redbacks with 29 points and 20 rebounds, Joel Wagner chipped in with 27 points while Jarrad Prior had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Rockingham Flames halted their 15 game losing streak and extended the South West Slammers streak to 14 losses with a 121-09 victory.

For the Flames Percell Coles put 28 points on the board, whilst young gun Beau Samuelson starred with 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and importJames Booyer had 21 points and 17 rebounds.

In the women's league the Slammers picked up a 77-60 win to stop the Flames ten game and extend their lead on top of the standings by a game.

Flames star Emma Cannon worked hard for the Flames with 19 points and 16 rebounds, however Slammers imports Kim Sitzmann (23 points) and Valeria Ogoke (22 points, 13 rebounds) were too much for the Flames.

Moving up the ladder the Wolves continue to regain strength taking down the Magic 77-50, Wanneroo now into third position on the back of four consecutive wins.

The Redbacks defeated the Senators 59-54 while the Eastern Suns took down the Lightning 76-74.
