Top four set; other playoff spots not quite yet (Week 19 Women's SBL Wrap)

THE top four of the women's SBL is set for the playoffs now with one round of the season to go but the Senators, Cougars and Magic remain locked over positions between fifth and seventh following Week 19 of the 2014 competition.

The Flames, Lightning, Wolves and Eastern Suns are now locked into the top four heading into the final round of the regular season but the Senators, Cougars and Magic can all finish anywhere from fifth to seventh while the wooden spoon between the Eagles and Redbacks is still up for grabs too.

The three women's matches on Friday night saw the top two teams, the Flames and Lightning, record wins to maintain their positions while the Cougars scored a crucial win to enhance their prospects of a top four finish.

The women's results saw the Orange Autos Rockingham Flames thrash the Perry Lakes Hawks 100-67 at Mike Barnett Sports Complex with the Lakeside Lightning overcoming the Stirling Senators 106-97 at Lakeside Recreation Centre and the Soprano Lady Cougars thumping the Perth Redbacks 90-50 at Wally Hagan Stadium.

The two women's Week 19 fixtures on Saturday night saw the Perth Redbacks beat the Schweigen East Perth Eagles 72-67 at Belmont Oasis and the Willetton Tigers defeat the Joondalup Wolves 78-67 at Joondalup Basketball Stadium.

Sunday's lone women's match saw the Kalamunda Eastern Suns thrash the Perry Lakes Hawks 84-52 at the WA Basketball Centre.

The weekend's results leave the Orange Autos Rockingham Flames (19-2) on top of the standings just the one game ahead of the Lakeside Lightning (18-3) with each having one match of their regular season remaining next weekend.

The Joondalup Wolves (15-6) sit in third position followed by the Kalamunda Eastern Suns (14-8), Stirling Senators (12-9), Soprano Lady Cougars (12-9), Mandurah Magic (11-9) and the Willetton Tigers (8-12).

Outside the top eight are the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers (7-14), Perry Lakes Hawks (6-16), Schweigen East Perth Eagles (2-19) and Perth Redbacks (2-19).

Once again there were a host of starring individual performances highlighted by Jacinta Bourne, Kari Pickens and Taylor Wild on Friday night, Gabby O'Sullivan on Saturday night, and Alison Schwagmeyer on Sunday.

On Friday night, Jacinta Bourne had a stunning outing for the Flames finishing with 34 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and five assists on the back of shooting 10-of-15 from the field and 7-of-11 from three-point territory.

Darcee Garbin also had a good night for Rockingham with 23 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots on the back of shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Samantha Whitcomb added 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals with Kaye Tucker contributing 14 points, nine boards and seven assists.

Chelsea Boyanich top-scored for the Hawks with 22 points with Anna Kovats adding 11 points and Rosie Tobin 10.

Kari Pickens was again the star for the Lightning finishing with 32 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Krystal Stoneking was outstanding as well for Lakeside with 28 points and eight rebounds with Jess Van Schie contributing 13 points, Emily Fielding 12 and Courtney Bayliss 11.

Taylor Wild did all she could for the Senators finishing with 29 points and six assists while shooting 11-of-19 from the floor and 7-of-10 from three-point territory.

Tegan Walker contributed 22 points, Amber Land 13 and Lyndal Gardner 10.

Deanna Smith top-scored for the Cougars with 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks on the back of shooting 7-of-9 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Marita Payne added 18 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots as well for Cockburn with Emma Pass finishing with 13 points and Chelsea Evans 10 points and six assists.

Gabby O'Sullivan top-scored for the Redbacks with 12 points but none of her teammates scored more than Latoya Wallace's eight points.

Then on Saturday night, Gabby O'Sullivan again top-scored for the Redbacks with 18 points, five rebounds and five steals with Jess Jakens contributing 17 points, 11 boards and two steals.

Alix Hayward added 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals as well for Perth with Jessica Hughes finishing with 12 points.

Stephanie Jones did all she could for the Eagles with 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots with Nicole Jorre St Jorre adding nine points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Emily Burton eight points and 10 boards.

Ebony Antonio led the way for the Tigers with 18 points with Melissa Marsh scoring 15 points, Antonia Edmondson 12 and Mikayla Pirini 10.

Lisa Wallbutton also finished with nine points, 14 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists, and Emma Lobb five points, 10 boards and three assists.

And finally on Sunday, Alison Schwagmeyer top-scored for the Eastern Suns with 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists with Melissa Moyle adding 20 points, Sarah-Jane Knox 12 (10 rebounds, three blocks) and Jessie Edwards 11.

Rosie Tobin was the only Hawks player to score in double-figures finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds.
