Suns Men Reach for Height of Success

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns Men’s SBL team are hungry to taste success and aren’t leaving anything to chance locking in 7”0 Perth native Justin Brown to command the paint for the Hills based club in 2010.

In what will be a homecoming, Brown represented Kalamunda during his junior days and since that time basketball has taken him around the globe venturing to Italy, Germany, Great Britain, China and America to accompany his two years within the NBL for Perth and Brisbane.

Most recently Brown competed in Queensland for the Rockhampton Rockets (QABL) where he posted 15.7pts and 11.5rebs per outing, but there is no hiding he is delighted to be back home and ready for a big 2010 campaign.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to play for the club where my basketball career started. I have been fortunate to travel the world plying my trade and it is fitting that I end up where it all began after growing up in the suburb of Roleystone”.

"Ash (McCormick) has worked hard in the off-season and we are starting to put the pieces in place to have a competitive team in the SBL this coming season. I look forward to playing with former teammates and friends Adrian Majstrovich and Austin Bruton. These guys have put the hard yards in and I want to support them and contribute to the team in our pursuit of a championship" said Brown.

Brown returns to the SBL competition with fond memories after being awarded the league MVP award in 2006 as a member of East Perth where he averaged 24.7pts & 13.1rebs and Suns Head Coach Ash McCormick can’t wait to get into the season with his frontline pairing of Brown and Majstrovich which is sure to cause headaches for opposing teams.

“Justin's signing is a massive coup for our club. Not only does he stand at 213cm tall and has both NBL and International experience, but more importantly he is a product of the Kalamunda junior program.”

“I believe his enthusiasm, work ethic and professionalism will have a major impact on our younger players and help create that championship mentality within our club. Justin possesses a genuine desire to get involved not only the on-court activities but also in teaching and developing the juniors and future stars of the club. For our juniors to have access to Justin is a very exciting prospect and we look forward to him making his mark again up in Kalamunda and throughout the League” said McCormick
