Tucker returning to Flames in 2010
The Rockingham Flames Women’s SBL team has re-signed it's 2009 MVP and captain Kaye Tucker for the 2010 WSBL season.
Kaye was instrumental in the Flames rapid climb up the ladder in 2009, averaging 18 points and 9 rebounds a game, all whilst playing out of position at centre. She also took over the captaincy role, and the clubs culture and performance both on and off the court changed instantly.
Head Coach Ryan Petrik couldn't have been happier to tie up his captain for 2010. "Tucks was the major reason why I came across from the men's program in the first place, so I clearly hadn't entertained the thought of losing her. She can do so many things well it isn't funny, we're almost impossible to trap because when opposition teams tie up Eikhoudt, we can just throw the ball to our centre and have her bring it up. No other team has that luxury. And, luckily for us, that’s just 1 many things she does well".
"The best thing about Tucker is the way she leads and sacrifices her own game to get others involved. If you watched us play last year and knew nothing about the 2 teams involved, you could pick out that Tucker was our captain the second you sat down, the way she leads, the way others take direction from her, it's fantastic. You’re not going to win this competition without a good captain; it's like having another coach on the floor which makes my job a whole lot easier."
