Open Trial Session for Mens SBL and Development League Teams

East Perth District Basketball Association (EPDBA) is pleased to advise that a combined open trial session for the Australian Central Eagles’ Men’s team and the new “Development League” Men’s team will be held at 2.00pm on 29 November 2009 at the Morley Sport and Recreation Centre.

The Australian Central Eagles are in the second year of an initial three year plan to create sustained club success along with the creation of an environment in which people can become a part of something more than just basketball. EPDBA has endeavoured to create a refreshed opportunity for players, coaches, members, spectators, sponsors as well as our local community.

EPDBA believe it is on the right track with both the Men’s and Women’s teams becoming more competitive and indeed playing a brand of basketball that made them a lot tougher to play against, particularly in a league that overall got a lot better. Part of this improvement in 2009 came from the club being able to attract highly talented individuals such as Stephen Weigh, Ben Thompson, Carly Wilson, as well as former Eagles junior Tom Jervis. This year we are looking to improve our playing depth to help create a club that will have sustained success going forward.

EPDBA has recently confirmed the appointment of Damien Chalk as Head Coach and Ben Thompson as Assistant Coach for the 2010 Season. Damien has a strong history in the SBL and Queensland Basketball League (QBL) where he was part of five championship teams. Ben is a National Basketball League (NBL) and QBL veteran who has enjoyed three QBL Championships and an Australian Club Championship in 2008. Damien and Ben’s basketball and championship experiences put them in a good position to build on the improvements achieved in 2009 and to assist players with their future development.

EPDBA would like to see as many current and former East Perth Eagles’ seniors and juniors at the open trial session. We also invite any players who feel like they are stale in their current circumstance or indeed are interested in a change to come along to the open session on 29 November 2009. Any prospective players can contact Head Coach, Damien Chalk on 0417 986 652 for a confidential discussion.
