2010 SBL Fixtures Released

The 2010 State Basketball League fixtures have now been finalised and released. 2010 will mark the 22nd year of the SBL Competition which began in 1989.

The 2010 State Basketball League will tip off on Friday March 12 with two games.

The 2009 Men's SBL Champions will unveil their Championship banner against Stirling Senators in the first game, while Rockingham will host Southwest in the second. The Women's SBL Champions, Willetton Tigers, will have to wait until Week Three to unveil their Championship banner when they take on Perry Lakes.

Features of the 2010 SBL Season include:

  • Easter Weekend (Week 4) see's the Goldfields Giants & Geraldton Buccaneers on the road with games on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. There will be 14 games in an action packed Easter weekend over Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
  • ANZAC Long Weekend (Week 7) will see two Country showdown games when Geraldton hosts Goldfields and Mandurah hosts Southwest. The same weekend will see the Giants tackle a horror road trip when they visit Joondalup on their "way home" from Geraldton.
  • Foundation Day Weekend (Week 13) will see four days of action packed basketball when Goldfields & Geraldton tackle a triple header road trip. Goldfields will face Willetton, Southwest & Perth while Geraldton will do business with 2009 finals rivals Lakeside & Cockburn with a game against Rockingham in between.
  • Week Fourteen will see the Perth Redbacks & Mandurah Magic return to Albany in a proposed fixture at the Albany Leisure & Aquatic Centre.
  • The Women's Grand Final will be on Friday August 20 while the Men's Grand Final will be on Saturday August 21.
