Week two PowerPlayer of the Week

Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports, one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

The Week Two WSBL winner is Brooke Hiddlestone from the Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks. Hiddlestone led her team to a 1-1 weekend with a 71-58 victory over the Perry Lakes Hawks which was followed by a close 52-47 loss to the Mandurah Magic.

Hiddlestone led her team with 18.5 points per game and 19 rebounds per game in the two outings. Hiddlestone won the award several times in 2009, a season which was capped off with the league MVP Award. The SBL veteran continues to show that she is one of the top rated players in the league.

Former Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx forward Kaye Tucker was also close to taking out the award with her Flames remaining undefeated after a 2-0 weekend against the Lightning & Eagles. Tucker had 16.5ppg & 10.0rpg but her 6 turnovers against the Lightning cost her the award this week.

Others in consideration for the award were Emma Pass (Cougars), Melissa Moyle (Eastern Suns), Ashley Gilmore (Eagles), Emily Fielding (Senators), Courtney Bayliss (Lightning), Courtney Hargreaves (Flames), Tegan Walker (Hawks), Casey Mihovilovich (Magic) and Kate Fielding (Slammers).

The Men’s PowerPlayer of the Week was awarded to Lightning rebound machine, Jarrad Prue. Prue led the Lightning to a 2-0 weekend with a 109-77 drubbing of the Flames, followed by a 101-75 defeat of the Slammers. Prue finished the weekend with a total of 40 points and 40 rebounds over the two games.

Sun City Plumbing Buccaneers star import Ryan Zamroz was unlucky not to claim his second PowerPlayer of the Week award after his effort of 47 points & 6 assists against the Wolves. Zamroz was instrumental in leading his team to a 118-110 win in their home debut for 2010, shooting 64% from the floor and 58% from behind the three point line.

Others in consideration for the weekly award were Bryce Burch (Cougars), Justin Brown (Eastern Suns), Tom Jervis (Eagles), Geordie Cullen (Senators), Rhett Della Maddalena (Flames), Jon Merriweather (Redbacks), Ben Purser (Hawks), Reece Maxwell (Wolves), Todd Earle (Giants), Alex Prince (Tigers), Casey Crevelone (Magic) & Jessan Gray (Slammers).
