Week Six PowerPlayer of the Week

Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports, one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx star Kate Malpass takes our her first PowerPlayer of the week award for 2010 after her effort against the Carpet Court Slammers. The Southlands Willetton Tigers guard had 37 points (66.6%), 6 assists and 6 steals in just 28 minutes on court in her side’s 12-43 victory.

ATD Stirling Senators recruit Michelle Joy was equally impressive as her side went 0-2 for the weekend. Joy finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds in a 72-64 loss to the Hawks. The following night Joy backed that effort up with 18 points and 10 rebounds as her side went down 69-46 to the Eastern Suns.

Others in consideration were Tegan Walker (Perry Lakes), Courtney Byrnes (Lakeside), Samantha Norwood (East Perth), Danika Pisconeri (Southwest), Rebecca Mercer (Wanneroo), Brooke Hiddlestone (Perth), Ella Buckley (Cockburn), Sherelle Johnson (Rockingham) and Melissa Moyle (Kalamunda).

Geraldton Sun City Plumbing Buccaneers import, Ryan Zamroz, takes out his second PowerPlayer of the Week award after leading his side to two tough victories on the road. Zamroz led the way with 29 points and 4 assists in a 101-82 victory over the Eagles. The star American backed that effort up with 32 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the Buccs 98-85 victory over title fancies Willetton.

The Southlands Willetton Tigers import Ty Shaw was also a standout in Week Six as his side split their double header weekend. The Tigers forward finished with averages of 21 points, 25 rebounds and 4 steals over the two games against Slammers and Buccaneers.

Others considered were Peter Crawford (Perry Lakes), Edward Morris Jr (Stirling), Luke Payne (Lakeside), Paul Rogers (East Perth), Jessan Gray (Southwest), Seb Salinas (Wanneroo), Jesse Wagstaff (Perth), John Vaudreuil (Goldfields), Casey Crevelone (Mandurah), Christian Cavanaugh (Cockburn), Rhett Della Maddalena (Rockingham) and Adrian Majstrovich (Kalamunda).
