Week Seven PowerPlayer of the Week

Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports, one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Total Connections Hawks US import Dana-Renae Jones takes out her first award after leading the Hawks to a 71-67 win over the AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns. Jones stared with 21 points and 13 rebounds, guiding her team in the fourth as they outscored the Suns 27-14 to claim victory.

Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks recruit Marita Payne had a superb start to her SBL career as her Redbacks split their double header. Payne averaged 19.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in the two outings as the Redbacks defeated the Senators and went down to the Tigers without Brooke Hidlestone.

Others in consideration were Emma Pass (Cockburn), Melissa Marsh (Willetton), Melissa Moyle (Kalamunda), Courtney Byrnes (Lakeside), Emma Berryman (Stirling), Danika Pisconeri (Southwest), Elizabeth Zezan (East Perth), Kaye Tucker (Rockingham), Casey Mihovilovich (Mandurah) and Megan Lee (Wanneroo).

AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns forward Adrian Majstrovich takes out his first award for 2010 after leading his side to a 2-0 weekend, including an upset win over Lakeside. Majstrovich averaged 39.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting 73.8% from the field.

The Southlands Willetton Tigers big man Daniel Johnson was a serious contender with his side also finishing 2-0. Johnson had 31 points and 8 rebounds against the Cougars and backed that up with 21 points and 11 rebounds against the Redbacks.

Others considered were Christian Cavanaugh (Cockburn), Steven Butler (Lakeside), Jarrad Prior (Perth), Geordie Cullen (Stirling), Jessan Gray (Southwest), Tom Jervis (East Perth), Ryan Zamroz (Geraldton), Michael Haney (Goldfields), Rhett Della Maddalena (Rockingham), Peter Crawford (Perry Lakes), Tom Remmerswaal (Mandurah), Edward Morris Jr (Stirling), Seb Salinas (Wanneroo), Ryan Neil (Perth) and John Vaudreuil (Goldfields).
