Wildcat Martin back for Eagles

Australian Central East Perth Eagles should be boosted by the return of Perth Wildcats guard Damian Martin when it meets in-form Rockingham Flames in one of the highlight clashes of round 10 of the men’s State Basketball League.

Martin missed both games last weekend for the Eagles but it was still able to move up to fifth spot with wins over Perry Lakes and Cockburn.

Rockingham has won three straight since the addition of import Demetrius Hazel and are just one win outside the top eight.

The Flames host local rivals Mandurah Magic the night before and should win.

Mandurah has won just one of its six road games this year, but that sole win came last week at Kalamunda.

Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers meet Titan Interactive Wanneroo Wolves in what should be a terrific game.

Wanneroo has won four of its last five and is historically strong at home so it may be able to upset the second placed Buccaneers.

With these two the highest scoring teams in the competition this year, an exciting game is almost assured, with Geraldton’s Ryan Zamroz and Wanneroo’s Seb Salinas set for big games.

Geraldton completes a tough road trip when it plays ATD Stirling Senators the next day, with it to start strong favourites.

The Senators have lost three of four and suffered a home loss to Rockingham last week without stars Joe-Alan Tupaea and Geordie Cullen.

Lakeside Lightning travel to Southside Mitsubishi Perth Redbacks in another blockbuster.

Perth was boosted by the return of star centre Jon Meriweather last week but it still lost by three to Geraldton, while Lakeside had an impressive six point win at Goldfields.

The Lightning have a tough local derby against Cockburn Cougars the night before, but its opponents have lost four straight and Lakeside should win.

Cockburn plays Stirling in a game with huge finals implications.

The two teams may end up battling for one of the last top eight spots but Cockburn could fall off the pace if it can’t win at least once this weekend.

SKILLED Goldfields Giants will be expected to recover from a shock loss last week by winning both games on its road trip.

It will start as heavy favourites against Mandurah and should beat Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks, which has lost six straight.

Wanneroo will be hoping to end AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns finals hopes, with the Suns having lost two straight and sitting 13th.

Southlands Willetton Tigers should prove too strong for Carpet Court Southwest Slammers, which remains winless and has seen two of its best players, Jessan Gray and Johnny Jovine, depart in the last week.

Willetton has won four straight and is one win clear of Geraldton in top spot.

Perry Lakes has lost six straight but should be able to end that streak when it meets Southwest.

Former NBL guard Peter Crawford nearly led it to a comeback win over East Perth last week and his good from should see the Hawks thrash the Slammers.
