McNeill claimed the women’s award after leading Lakeside to wins over Metropolis Fremantle Cockburn Cougars and Southside Mitsubishi Perth Redbacks.
She had 20 points and 11 rebounds in an impressive all-round performance against the Cougars, backing it up with 10 points and 16 rebounds the next night against Perth.
The import is averaging 12.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game after she debuted for the Lightning in late April.
AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns star Melissa Moyle was also in contention, as she had 24 points and 11 rebounds from just 28 minutes in her side’s upset win over Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves.
Beran began the weekend with 19 points and five rebounds as Lakeside beat Cockburn and followed that up with 46 points and 12 boards as his side became the first team to win at Perth this season.
His effort against Perth was the second time he had exceeded 40 points this season after doing it against Titan Interactive Wanneroo Wolves in April.
Beran is averaging 26.9 points and eight rebounds per game in a stellar season for the Lightning. Also in contention for the men’s award was ATD Stirling Senators star Edward Morris Jr.
The import led Stirling to a victory over Cockburn with 31 points and 13 rebounds and had 26 points and 14 rebounds in its loss to Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers.
