Harper joins Tigers for Flames clash

Willetton product Zoe Harper is on her way back to Perth and will be making her return to the Tigers.

Harper played her junior basketball with the Willetton Tigers WABL program and has also played WSBL with the Tigers before heading to the University of Minnesota.

Zoe was the ‘Golden Gophers’ first player from Australia, she has played in 126 career games with four starts, scored 520 career points and pulled down 425 career rebounds.

Harper has been a pivotal team leader for the Gophers and a great teacher and mentor to the younger post players. Harper has provided a consistent inside presence in the post and is a mobile post player with the size and power to patrol the paint in the rugged battles of Big Ten Conference play.

Harper has scored in double figures fourteen times in her career, has had four games with double-digit rebounds and has tallied one career double-double. Harper started the first three games of her freshman season with Minnesota. She then started one game during her senior season, amassing 116-games between starts, the longest in Gopher history.

Harper is ranked eighth with 73 blocked shots and has come from the same hometown as the WNBA Indiana Fever’s Tully Bevilaqua who helped Australia to the 2006 World Championship crown.

Zoe graduates in May this year with a degree in kinesiology.

Harpers signature creates a strong presence for the Tigers and she will be a crucial piece of the puzzle in strengthening the Tigers bid for back-to-back crowns.

Harper will suit up for her first game this Saturday in a home game against the Rockingham Flames.

Women’s action gets underway at 6.00pm and men at 8.00pm.
