The American has been a welcome addition to the Senators after his late arrival, averaging 24.5 points and 10.3 rebounds in nine games.
Sun City Plumbing Buccaneers star Ryan Zamroz was also close to taking out the award after leading the Buccs past the Magic with 37 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the 108-99 victory.
Payne didn’t miss a shot all game on her way to an impressive 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks as the Redbacks beat the Slammers 91-44
It was the Redbacks ninth win of the season and pushed them up one spot into the top four.
The former Australian squad member has averaged 19.4 points and 11.8 rebounds since joining the Redbacks from her European commitments seven games ago.
Eastern Suns rookie Sophie Doyle was also in contention after having 18 points and 4 rebounds in her sides upset 73-69 win over the Flames, knocking the Rockingham outfit from top spot.
