Week 15 Player of the Week

AND1 Kalamunda Eastern Suns star Adrian Majstrovich and Southlands Willetton Tigers guard Kate Malpass have claimed the PowerPlayer of the Week awards for round 15 in the State Basketball League.

Majstrovich and Malpass will receive $50 vouchers for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco as a result of spectacular performances last weekend.

Majstrovich, who is a former Perth Wildcats, Brisbane Bullets, New Zealand Breakers and Adelaide 36ers player, led Kalamunda to a 118-105 win over East Perth, breaking a nine-game losing streak for the Suns.

The power forward had 55 points, 16 rebounds and four assists in one of the best individual performances in the league this season, making 21 of his 37 shots from the field and 46.2 per cent of his three-point attempts.

The 2009 SBL All-Star is putting up MVP-calibre numbers again this year despite Kalamunda’s disappointing season, averaging 30.8 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Total Connections Perry Lakes Hawks shooting guard and fellow former Wildcats star Peter Crawford was also in contention, with 35 points and 13 assists in his side’s 108-94 win at Goldfields.

Malpass claimed the women’s award after leading Willetton to a crucial 75-66 win over second placed side Rockingham Flames.

The Perth Lynx guard had 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists against the Flames, taking her averages to 17.3 points and 6.2 assists per game this season.

Lakeside Lighting import Heidi McNeill wasn’t far off after she had 16 points and nine rebounds in her side’s upset win over Perth and 23 points and 10 boards in its victory against Cockburn.
