Shaw and Jones will receive $50 vouchers for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco as a result of spectacular performances last weekend.
US import Shaw has returned to the league in blistering form after having previously played for the Cougars (2005) and the Giants (2006 & 2007).
The power forward had two solid games as his team went 2-0 for the weekend. Against the Cougars Shaw had 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. That effort was backed up with 23 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists against the Magic.
Lakeside Lightning guard Luke Payne and Perth Wildcat Stephen Weigh were also in consideration this weekend for their strong performances.
Jones claimed the women’s award after leading Perry Lakes to a crucial 66-60 win over the Glasscraft Wanneroo Wolves.
The US import had 21 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals against the Wolves, taking her averages to 16.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game this season.
Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks centre Marita Payne was also in close consideration for her effort of 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks in her sides 61-44 win over the Australian Central Eagles.
