Tovey leads Tigers to top (Friday Wrap)
The Tigers will ensure top spot by beating Perth in its final regular season game, but a loss would see it fall to second behind Lakeside Lightning.
Perth Wildcats signing Cam Tovey led Willetton its tenth straight win with 35 points and 10 rebounds and Alex Prince added 33 points.
Lakeside kept the battle for top spot alive with a 115-75 thrashing of Southwest Slammers.
Luke Payne had 27 points for Lakeside in its final game of the year, while the Slammers are just one loss away from a winless season.
Perry Lakes Hawks beat Mandurah Magic 103-101 in an overtime thriller to boost its chances of avoiding Willetton and Lakeside in the first round of the finals.
Peter Crawford hit two free-throws in the final 30 seconds to put the Hawks in front, while Robert Kempf (34 points) was Perry Lakes’ highest scorer.
Perry Lakes will finish between sixth and eighth with its final position dependent on other results.
Rockingham Flames came from behind to beat Kalamunda Eastern Suns 113-110, although the win was soured by a serious elbow injury to Flames import Demetrius Hazel.
In women’s action, Mandurah dented Perry Lakes’ hopes of a top four finish with a 60-49 win.
Elsewhere, Willetton beat Stirling 73-60, Rockingham defeated Kalamunda 77-52 and Lakeside came back to beat Southwest 66-49.
