Evans labels game one as crucial

RAY Evans has ranked game one of their best of three series about Perry Lakes as the most important of the series.

Game one will be played at the WA Basketball Centre tomorrow night before game two and three (if necessary) in Geraldton the following weekend.

“Game one is absolutely an important game,” Evans said.'

“If we can pull off a win on the road that puts them on the back foot and makes it hard for them to come back.”

Evans said that the team has been focusing on what the Perry Lakes Hawks like to do on the court.

“We have been watching plenty of tapes through the week of what they like to do,” he said.

“We know their strengths and weaknesses so hopefully we exploit that.”

The Buccs defeated the Hawks two weeks ago.

NBL guard Peter Crawford missed that clash but is back in the line up this time round.

Evans said the Buccs must not get too focussed on Crawford and let other players build confidence.

“Their import Robbie Kempf is a big rebounder so we much watch out for him,” he said.

“They have some talented youngsters like Ben Purser who can also score a lot of points on us.”

Coming off a physical game against the East Perth Eagles, Evans said the Buccs will not play dirty not will look to hold their own.

“We do not would to be physically dirty just want to hold our ground and take it up to them,” he said.

“If we manage to hold them to 80 points we will be a huge chance of winning.”
