Cougars announce 2011 Coaches

The Cockburn Cougars have moved quickly to re-appointed Fleur McIntyre and Stephen Charlton to Head Coaching positions for the 2011 SBL season.

SBL Director Tammy Van Lit said the club was excited about the announcement.

"The announcement of our coaches re-appointment on Saturday evening was actually met with great enthusiasm throughout the club."

McIntyre is a first year head coach with the Cougars and led the team to a 6-16 win-loss record which included a 73-56 win over 2009 Grand Finalist Mandurah.

Charlton took the Cougars job upon returning to Perth after leading the Goldfields Giants for the past four seasons, including two Championships.

The SBL veteran lead the young Cougars line-up to a 8-18 record despite having seven players under the age of 20.

"Cockburn are looking forward to taking bigger steps in the growth and development of our younger players for next season and we believe we are well placed to do this" said Van Lit.

Van Lit also commented on the recruitment of a new import for 2011, Ty Harrelson.

"Ty Harrelson is an experienced import Guard who has great character and work ethic."

"The Cockburn Basketball Association firmly believe that these announcements put us in a great position to see the Cougars move onwards and upwards once again."
