Eastern Suns confirm 2011 coaches

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns are proud to announce the re-signing of their State Basketball League Head Coaches for the 2011 season.

2010 Men’s SBL Head Coach Ashley McCormick will be returning for a second campaign.

“I’m excited to continue working with the group we have put together at Suns. We have a close knit and committed group of guys who are headed in the right direction and will build success at the club" said McCormick.

Craig Mansfield will be returning for the next two seasons with the women’s program and is looking to see further progress within his squad.

“The first priority in 2010 was securing the grass roots of long – term success. While it was disappointing not to be participating in the finals, we ticked a lot of boxes and big picture improvements were made."

"With a solid pre-season and improved player availability we are confident we will be in the top tier of teams over the next two seasons and have established something that will stand the test of time.”

Club Chairperson Peter Hanson is excited by both re-signings.

“Suns are now looking for stability over the next few years as we consolidate our young teams."

"Craig Mansfield is a well credentialed coach with experience in State and Women’s National League and with our SBL teams. Ash will consolidate his rookie campaign and build towards his own program and style. The Suns committee welcome them both back and look forward to a strong campaign in 2011.”

Both coaches are now looking to sign their squads and commence off-season and pre-season programs. Expressions of interest for men’s players can be registered at ajmccormick@mail.com and for women’s players at craigmansfield@me.com.

Stay tuned for further announcements and player signings.
